The Interpretive Impulse
- This event has passed.
In this three-part workshop and seminar, we will investigate the meanings and methods of creative interpretation. Focusing on the interplay between the sacred and the artistic, we will explore what it means to interpret a central text, concept, or object. How do we use our interpretive faculties to make meaning in our lives? How do we know an interpretation is “correct” or that it matters? How can the interpretive traditions of religion and art inform each other and our creative and spiritual lives?
We will explore these questions through Torah text study, works of conceptual art, and hands-on efforts to practice creative exegesis and make conceptual art. All backgrounds welcomed. Led by Rachel Farbiarz, a local artist and writer.
