Ute Lemper
Forever: The Love Poems of Pablo Neruda
- This event has passed.
Cabaret and jazz singer Ute Lemper brings her newest project, a song cycle set to the love poems of Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda. “Alongside his political legacy, he gave us the most beautiful gift of his love poems,” says Lemper. “I chose these poems to celebrate love, passion, and life…. My intention was to create the most moving and tender songs and melodies imaginable, while not shying away from the strong emotions of pain and passion.” Her DC performance also features the Berlin cabaret songs and the French chansons that have made her a force to be reckoned with.
This performance is made possible through the generous support of the Amphion Foundation. Washington Performing Arts performances at Sixth & I are made possible by the Abramson Family Foundation and by an anonymous gift in appreciation of Douglas Wheeler’s continuing efforts on behalf of Washington Performing Arts.
