“There can be no doubt that pianist-composer Vijay Iyer stands among the most daringly original jazz artists of the under-40 generation,” says The Chicago Tribune. Drawing from a wide range of Western and non-Western traditions, the self-taught and collaborative Iyer has covered artists ranging from Duke Ellington to M.I.A. In 2010, Iyer’s “Historicity” was Grammy Nominated as Best Jazz Instrumental Album and he was named winner of the Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Award for Musician of the Year, joining the ranks of jazz giants such as Ornette Coleman and Herbie Hancock.
