This class meets Tuesdays, July 7 – September 1 from 8:00 – 9:30 pm.

Keren Yairi leads a more advanced class for those with basic Hebrew reading ability who are ready for a next step.  The first few sessions of this course will review and reinforce the Hebrew letters and trickier vowels and present some strategies to improve your reading skills.  The remaining sessions will give you an understanding of some of the Hebrew language often found in prayers and readings.  Learn common vocabulary words and roots as well as simple, key grammatical structures to help you translate the Hebrew frequently encountered in Jewish contexts. For the benefit of all participants, attendance is expected at all 10 classes, and 10-20 minutes per day of home practice is recommended.

Keren Yairi is a certified language instructor; in addition to Hebrew, she teaches reading and English as a Second/Other Language in the DC schools and has been an international development consultant for education and literacy projects.
