Rare: The Ethics, Ecology, and Kashrut of Meat
- This event has passed.
What are the ethics of eating meat? What is the difference between factory farmed poultry and beef and their grass-fed counterparts? How does keeping kosher differ (or not) from pursuing sustainability?
Rabbi Scott joins the sustainable farmers of Pearlstone Center for a special, three-day What It Takes that explore the morality, spirituality, and practical how-to’s of sustainable meat-eating. This course includes a live, demonstration of kosher shekhitah (slaughter) of birds with Naf Hanau, founder of Grow and Behold, kosher, sustainable meat source.
Session 1 – Sunday, June 2 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Pearlstone Center in Reisterstown, MD
Session 2 – Monday, June 3 from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm at Sixth & I
Session 3 – Tuesday, June 4 from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm at Sixth & I
We’re partnering with Baltimore’s Charm City Tribe and the amazing Rabbi Jessy Gross to make this experience even richer.
