Rose Window

In the 1980s, the building’s original rose window, located on the eastern wall of the sanctuary, was replaced by a church member’s design, featuring symbols of the A.M.E. church. The original window was lost after it was removed.

Working from vintage black and white photos, Classic Glass, Inc. of Alexandria, Virginia, recreated the original design, drawing colors from other original stained glass windows in the sanctuary.

  • This is how the rose window appeared while the building was occupied by Turner Memorial.

  • The recreated, stained glass rose window features a menorah motif. Antique glass was used as much as possible.
